 Dr. Joe
H. Johnson is a specialist in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery.
He and his colleagues at Macon CardioVascular Institute are the largest
group of surgeons in Middle Georgia who currently perform endograft
procedures. After receiving his medical degree from the Medical College of
Georgia, Dr. Johnson completed his general surgery training at the Medical
Center of Central Georgia in 1987. He additionally completed training in
cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Charlotte Memorial Medical Center
in 1989. Dr. Johnson has also received training in vascular ultrasound,
minimally invasive endoscopic coronary artery bypass grafting,
endovascular surgery, and endograft procedures. He is a Diplomate of
the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the
American College of Chest Physicians, the Southern Thoracic Surgical
Association, the Southern Medical Association, the International Society
of Endovascular Specialists, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the
Bibb County Medical Society. Dr. Johnson holds an academic position as
Assistant Professor to the Surgery Department of Mercer University School
of Medicine. |

 Dr. Randall B. Brown is a specialist in
cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery. He and his colleagues at Macon
CardioVascular Institute currently have the largest experience in
performing endovascular procedures. Dr. Brown received his medical
degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in 1986 and completed his
general surgery training at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in 1992.
He then completed training in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the
Carolina Heart Institute at Charlotte Medical Center in Charlotte, North
Carolina. Dr. Brown has received additional training in advanced
cardiac and advanced trauma life support, pediatric surgery, oncologic
surgery, laparoscopic surgery, pacemaker implantation, thoracic surgery,
endovascular surgery, and endograft procedures. He is a member of the
American College of Surgeons, the International Society of Endovascular
Specialists, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the Bibb County
Medical Society. He is a Diplomate of the National Board and the American
Board of Surgery and is a Candidate of the American Board of Thoracic
Surgery. Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor to the Surgery Department of
Mercer University School of Medicine. |

 Dr.
Richard L. Harvey is a specialist in cardiac, vascular, and
thoracic surgery. After receiving a Presidential Preaching Scholarship and
completing the Master of Divinity Program in Pastoral Care and Counseling
at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985, Dr. Harvey went on
to receive his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of
Medicine in 1992, where he received the Ciba Award his Sophomore year. He
then completed his general surgery training at the Medical Center of
Central Georgia in 1997 and received the Annual Scholastic Achievement
Award for 1994-1995. He
completed his training in cardio-thoracic surgery through the University
of Mississippi in 1999. Dr. Harvey is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is the
Institute's heart valve specialist. He is a member
of the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the
Will C. Sealy Surgical Society, and the Donald Ross Society. |

 Dr.
Maurice M. Solis is a specialist in peripheral vascular and
endovascular surgery. He is board certified in peripheral vascular surgery
and his practice is devoted exclusively to diagnosis and treatment of
patients with circulatory disorders. Dr. Solis graduated from Wake Forest
University School of Medicine in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He completed
his post-graduate education at Mercer University School of Medicine and
completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at the University of
Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. He then completed a
fellowship in endovascular surgery at Southern Illinois University. He
received the 1990-91 American Venous Forum Research Award. Dr. Solis holds
the position of Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Mercer
University School of Medicine, and is the medical director of Peripheral
Vascular Services for the Georgia Heart Center at the Medical Center of
Central Georgia. Dr. Solis has been instrumental in bringing new vascular
technologies to the middle Georgia area. He performed the first aortic
endograft and the first carotid artery stent in the Macon area. |

 Dr.
J. Allen Stevick is a general surgeon. After graduating from
Mercer University with degrees in chemistry and mathematics, he earned his
medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed his
internship and residency in General Surgery at Mercer University and Medical
Center of Central Georgia, where he served as administrative chief resident
and was twice named resident of the year. During medical school, he served
with the 382nd Field Hospital, United States Army Reserve. Following his
residency, he was chief of the General Surgery Service and Officer in Charge
of the Gynecology and General Surgery Clinic of Lyster Community Army
Hospital in Fort Rucker, Alabama. He then spent five years in private
practice in Forsyth, Georgia before joining the Macon CardioVascular
Institute in 2002. Dr. Stevick currently serves as clinical assistant
professor of surgery at Mercer University School of Medicine, is a Diplomate
of the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of
Surgeons. |

 Dr.
James L. Foster is a specialist in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery. He joined Macon CardioVascular Institute
in July of 2005.
He is a native of Gainesville, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a
degree in Biology. He then earned a degree in medicine from the Medial College of Georgia.
He completed a general surgery residency at Mercer University/Medical Center of Central Georgia followed by a
cardiothoracic fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He is the
recipient of numerous awards including intern of the year, resident of the year, and resident teacher
of the year. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. His presentations at professional
meetings have included topics on current surgical management of blunt thoracic aortic injuries,
cardiac injuries in association with sternal fractures, and pulmonary artery aneurysmal disease. Dr. Foster is
board certified with the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. |

 Dr.
Juan Ayerdi joined the Macon CardioVascular Institute practice in April of 2006. He comes to Macon from Wake Forest University
School of Medicine where he was an Assistant Professor of Surgery. Dr. Ayerdi began his surgery training at the
University of Massachusetts Medical Center and then completed his residency at Guthrie Clinic and Robert Packer Hospital
in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He then did a Vascular Surgery Clinical Fellowship at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
in Springfield, Illinois. He also completed an Endovascular Fellowship at the Southern Illinois Program. he is a member
of the American Medical Association, the American Association for Vascular Surgery, and the Southern Association for Vascular
Surgery. Dr. Ayerdi is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Vascular Surgery. |

 Dr.
Nicky Pipkin joined the Macon CardioVascular Institute practice in
August of 2006. He comes to Macon from Huntsville, Alabama where he has
been working to initiate an open heart surgery program at Crestwood
Medical Center. Dr. Pipkin is originally from North Carolina, completing
his undergraduate training at the University of North Carolina in 1979. He
attended medical school at East Carolina University of Medicine before
completing his general surgery training at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and
Medical Center. He then did a fellowship in trauma and critical care at
the same hospital. Following this training, he completed his fellowship in
Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He practiced cardiac and thoracic
surgery in Savannah before moving to Huntsville. Dr. Pipkin is certified
by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic
Surgery. |

 Dr. Tony Hamilton
joined the staff of Macon CardioVascular Institute in August of 2007. He
comes to Macon from Chattanooga, Tennessee where he has been in practice
since 1990. Dr. Hamilton is originally from Georgia, obtaining
undergraduate degrees at North Georgia College and the University of
Georgia. He completed medical school in 1982 at the Medical College of
Georgia in Augusta. He then went on to do his general surgery training at
Charlotte Memorial Hospital, followed by a fellowship in cardiac,
thoracic, and vascular surgery at the same hospital. He is certified by
both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic
Surgery. |
